Making power with a turbo diesel

They still refer to it as detonation- pre ignition before top dead centre due to cylinder pressure or early injection kills them. The bang should be timed to start presenting serious combustion after tdc.

how does biodiesel go with big boost? any different to normal diesel oil?

no idea but it workes fine in my car. you just gotta retard it 2 deg is recomended.

I'd stick with pump diesel personally. I don't know enough about the chemistry to say though..

Most stockers make about 40 to 60 hp per litre I reckon on a good day.

The power stroke that the Fords run is 6.0, and makes 325 usfw hp stock, or about 50 a litre with low boost. Those guys seem to run BIG turbochargers and plenty of boost, and some are making 700+ at the rear wheels. I'm trolling around to see what the common mods are. The amount of black smoke is quite disturbing. I'm guessing that the injection is hard to boost reference than a conventional pump.. Mental!

My van makes stock 47kW @ 4250rpm and 133Nm @ 2000rpm . So around 70 hp from 2.2 litres of lazy engine. I'm guessing that 8 pounds of boost will give it a bit over a hundred horses and maybe 200 Nm so 50 per litre with a little boost..
