    nero - whats the run down on this program? im more interested in the harmonic theory than actually designing a set to physically design and make.

    PS - promise ill post pics of any attempt i make at this sand bending mumbo...

      The guy knows his stuff, though I would check with him re your design criteria. I don't have time to go into stepped pipe theory, it is partly anti-reversionary, but suffice to say nearly all race bikes and formular cars have been using stepped pipes for a while now. On a street car?...not really sure the engine designs would benefit greatly from it, but I do not really know enough here WRT the mild cam timing/compressions and full systems etc used.

        What would happen if i used a normal press bender but sand packed the pipe and used heat as per the article above? Would I still get deformation of the cross section?

          the reason for the hand bends is the possibility to make a variable diameter bend and thus get the close fit to the other pipes. Press bender will still likely crush the pipes.
