A bit OT mate, but is there any info regarding the status of the AIR court case floating about in your circles TK?

NFI on AIR unfortunately, wish I did know.
Apparently the case has been heard & the judges decision will be final (no appeals), but no-one knows when the decision will be made.

Hamish - backyard port jobs can vary wildly, very few people have the skills & equiptment to do a good job at home, but a good bowl job can be had for around $600 - $800 in porting by a pro (plus whatever else the heads need).
It's worth spending a few bucks on the heads, you can't make good power if the heads don't flow.

      Cheers

Can someone explain what "moroso hp" is?

There is a kind of slide rule that a company called moroso came out with about 20 years ago that gives you hp based on speed and mph through the finish line of the quarter mile. Or you put in hp and weight and it tells you what you should run.

^ as above, but I'll add morosso HP is considered REAL HP, most dyno's used to tune competition engines are calibrated to spit out figures consistent with morosso power.
Dyno's used mostly for tuning engines for the general public (including most chassis dyno's) are calibrated to produce the HP figures we are mostly familiar with, ie - much higher.
Ever seen power figures for a race engine & thought 'is that all?' - chances are it was a true HP figure.
The tricky bit for us engine builders is that if we give our outputs in true HP figures we'll get laughed at by the customer who has talked to the guy down the road who uses the more common figures, so we are forced to use the higher figures despite the fact that they are artificial.
This motor made a 'real' 427HP, but every second person has a '400HP' 308 so it seams quite low.
400 morosso HP makes for a very f'n quick car, much quicker than a normal 400 HP car.

                  Confused now?

                  Cheers

That is why my VK runs 12s with 204 hp at the treads.

Yup, on a typical dyno that'd be 238HP ATW, enough for 12.7 in a 2800lb VK.
204HP ATW on a typical dyno would only run 13.3.

                      Cheers

What sort of power would a VK need to run mid 14s?
