Most of the cars with Electric Power steering ( EPS ) Have there assistance in the upper Steering column , But the Steering Rack it self is just a manual style rack in most models , So just use the Rack with a Standard steering spindal.

it might pay to measure rack ratio (steering turns to rack horizontal motion) ... from memory, a camira needs a fair bit of steering input to do stuff (rowdy should know exactly as he runs one as a rally barge).

edit: i have been reminded that tortfeaser has teh camira... my bad.

tortfeaser will know about Camiras- but I think he's got a quickrack from the UK in his...

gemini racks are compact and stuff-but lots of turns lock to lock

I'm not sure why it age matters so much though..

Age: has to be from a car that passed ADR's and those ADR's must be current. ICV build you see.

what about scratch fabricated suspension or brake components- do they have to be ADR approved too??

                        fro - cheers!...

sorry not much time to think ATM. suspension components need to be inspected and calculated. Brake components?...they are all OEM. Not sure what brake components I could fabricate apart from caliper spacers.

Holden Cruze have a manual rack, with an electric motor up in the column for assistance...IIRC they have a decent amount of lock as well?

this is correct. It's more the teeth themselves than the rack actually. All the steering loads in a manual rack are going through the teeth, which this is not the case on a power rack. Therefore, ratios and teeth design, as well as material and heat treatment even are often very different between the two systems.
