Do inline fuel pressure "check valves" exist ?

The fuel pump in my E30 isn't holding any residual pressure after the ignition has been turned off. The pump is supplying the correct pressure and volume, but it seems the inbuilt check valve is cactus.

Spending a few hundred on a replacement pump seems excessive if I can get around it by just plumbing in a check valve somewhere between the pump and rail.

I've asked Repco and Autoone if they have such a thing and both places informed me that these do not exist and I need to get a new pump.

Are these guys telling me the truth? A simple check valve seems like a logical idea to me, but noone has heard of them and I can't find them the web.

Don't worry, thats just the self-preservation instinct, in my experience you can safely ignore it.

We use Bosch external pumps(909's) in tank for Subaru's. The Bosch one way valve is removed as part of the fitting process so we use a one way valve supplied by a diesel pump shop/reconditioner. Costs $25.

Got a partnumber/brand/source for that valve Al?

Most of the race cars have the valve removed and it causes no issues FWIW

You probably don't mind cranking over the engine an extra rotation or two while waiting for fuel pressure in a race car.

Not on me. It's a generic 8mm barb ended one way valve.

It's only purpose is to reduce the amount of cranking needed to start the car. Never concerned me but I understand these things whereas many customers don't.

could steal the accumulator setup from a junked E21. Designed to keep the lines (and in this case, fuel rail) under pressure long after the pump has switched off.
