Damn CBC. "yeah its 0.5mm smaller OD but that will be fine, this is the part number we have for the 2JZ cams" I'm pretty sure that when you turn the cams the seal isn't meant to turn with it. :knock: :p

        2 seals from CBC = $6
2 seals from Toyota = $? + ? days until they get some in.

$30 + 3 days. No work on the car this weekend then You know when someone is ripping you off when they charge $30 for something that other people can make a good profit selling for $6.

I bet CBC don't get much repeat business if the size is wrong though.

Fuck em. It was only a $6 loss. Would cost more than that in fuel money to drive there.

On the upside my genuine $30 seals have arrived at Toyota already.

Done. Its piss easy to change cams on a JZ. I reckon I could do it again in 2 hours.

Anyhow, this left me with a set of JDM spec supra cams. (almost as good of an upgrade as the USDM cams for a 1JZ)

An hour or so later we had the intake cam fitted into my brothers soarer with the correct cam seal which is not a regular seal as it needs to fit the 1JZ head and the 2JZ cams which not the same size in the seal area. The intake cam fits no probs.

Chris Davey put up a guide on Toymods but these are are our findings on the exhaust cam. Thanks to Chris for the part number of the seals.

I'm still working on my wastegate and Gary's car will be off the road for a little while for a fuel system upgrade. Jet black lines: Coming soon :D

Anyone know if the valve clearance and torque spec for the cam caps is the same on a 1JZ as a 2JZ?

                            Mine were fine.

For the 1JZ We went by 2JZ spec of 0.15-0.25 intake and 0.25-0.35 exhaust. One intake clearance is too small. And about 4 exhaust clearances are to big. I would like to know the 1JZ specs to be sure.

Yup, jet black lines! Runs perfect on the sock ECU and is just as smooth as before too.
