Mate of mine had one of these go aswell, as we both work in the electronic repair industry we opened it up. Turns out that the transistors had been clamped down too tight to the heat sink and had cracked, we replaced the transistors, repaired the fried tracks and all was good. The units will work for a while with the cracked transistor but there life will be greatly reduced, so I would think that you should be able to send this back for replacment.

I've already replaced it with 4 bosch BIM124 modules, but i think i might have found the problem, the negative side of all the coil packs is 12V, i don't know how this is happening but it is

you will measure 12v on the negative side, because it flows through the primary ignition coil circuit, most coils are only 1.0ohm, so you will measure the full voltage on the negative side, if the coil is not grounded by the negative terminal, which only happens when it charges by the ignition module.

p.s. i don't know of any car that has the positive side of the coil hooked to the battery, wire it through the ignition switch or ignition relay. it shouldn't matter in theory, but if the ignitor fails and makes a perm ground, you will burn the coils out. ignition switch the supply FTW!
