Also means less work/parts needed before I can use the bastard again!
I guess it goes without saying that this time the fuel pressure switch will be set a bit higher, and wired so that if actuated it trips the ignition out until it's manually reset?

Yes, this is EFI, it used to be carby... 6-7psi cut out on an 8psi pump.

No, it would be very very annoying if I happened to come across a bit of fuel surge on the circuit and had to reset the system to be able to use power again. Plus it adds another layer of electrical complication to go wrong, I'm trying to avoid that, hence the mechanical pump thoughts...

I'm confused. Are you talking about a mechanical pump in an otherwise normal EFI system or ditching the complete EFI, computer etc, and going pure mechanical injection?

Mechanical pump in a normal EFI system, still high pressure, just not electric.

Took a Silvia shell to the scrap metal place today, it was missing all of the mechanical stuff, ie engine/gearbox/front and rear suspension/diff and all of the front panels. Most of the bigger interior stuff was there, but lots of little bits missing. Came up at 800kg! Lancer was 902kg with cage with the old setup, I think I will be a lot lighter then a Silvia

I'd be surprised if the lancer was less than 1050 kg with the sliva bits installed, and the new cage.

probably about 50 kg lighter than a caged stripped siliva would be.. :D

Don't think I am going to add 150kg... Cage weight should be similar, going from a bolt in steel to a weld in steel should only add weight where the extra bars are, so 20kg ish. Engine weight will be similar, diff/suspension weight maybe 10kg more, I can just lift the rear cradle and I could just lift the old diff with springs attached. Interior is going on a diet as well, no more factory dash, pasenger seat or wind up glass windows.
