Ok , considering the answer I'm getting does anyone know what a "Tank Vent Valve" is?
Would I need to cut the body to fit an aviation style filler-cap?

With mine i did have to cut the body, but thats only cause i completely changed the position of the filler. If u keeped the same position u could weld the standard filler flap closed and extend the inner tube from the old one through to the new one.
      Comprehenda???

Sorry a bit hard to explain, but basically weld up the old one and put the new one inside that one.

      Thanks
      Ben

So what your saying is just remove the old filler flap and then fit the aviation style filler in it's place?

yeah, u could do that, if it fits in its place.
But if its too small u'll have to weld up the original and cut a hole in that to fit it inside it. Understand?
This way u dont have to modify piping or pressure valves(much), just put it over the top of the old one.

          Thanks

Forgive my supidity, but can you go step by step, as I am having a little trouble following you?

ok, going off-line soon so i'll try to make it simple, step by step.

              1. Remove the old cap, and remove the old filler flap.
              2. Cut a hole in the flap that will house the aviation style filler cap.
              3. extend the fuel line/piping from where the old one stopped just inside the flap (where the old cap srcewed into), to the new filler position- this will be about 2-3inch's towards the outside of the car.
              4. Put/weld the new filler in its position inside the old flap whilst the flap is detached from the car.
              5. Join the fuel line/piping to the new filler with the flap/filler assembly attached to the car again.
              6. Weld the flap into place and smooth over and paint.

              Understand??
Any questions? I'll be online till 11:15pm to answer them.
Then i'll be on again 2morrow night.

              Thanks
              Ben

So the replacement filler bolts to the body?
Do you require an special tool to screw the bolts in for the alumiun fuel filler?

Not sure about that one, but with mine its just allen key-head bolts/screws that screw into the body. But if u're going to put it in the original filler position and 'inside' the flap, and weld that filler flap to the body, then u'd need to put holes in the flap to screw the new filler in.

                    Thanks
                    Ben

PS- tell me what u want to do in more detail if u dont understand.

I want to fit one of earls performance aviation-style fuel fillers to my VC commodore.
I've had a look at an remore mount fuel filler, and they seem the easiest to fit.
With these fuel fillers are they key locked or ???

                          (specify details?)
What I want to do is retain the factory fuel tank location, while still still being able to fit an aviation-style fuel filler.
modding of body, fuel filler pipe can be done if required?

well have fun- shouldn't be too hard to do-just go and ask a engineer to make sure its legal for what i've been saying, and see what he thinks. They might know another, easier/quicker way to do it.

Thats pretty much all the info i can give u, other than it'll look good when its done.

                            Thanks
                            Ben

PS- if u dont have a filler yet, think about a bike one, some of the new bikes have pretty cool looking caps, and they'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a newy.
