Yep we have WJC in use at work and it's mint for this stuff. come Friday I am knocking out some strut top braces out of 3mm Ti Gr2...mmmm

Not sure what you're doing for the gasket as we manufacture a graphite laminate with 0.004" 316SS tanged core gasket material (3125TC) that is awesome for these jobs. Happy to send some over to you sandwiched between some cardboard, if you want to keep up the handyman skills making gaskets!!

I know I could do stuff quicker (and easier :knock other ways, but I love tinkering away in the shed. Saves me having to talk to the wife and kids :rotflol:

xwgasaxe - PM sent. Making a custom gasket will be next on the agenda, as I've modified the ports so much that the stock gasket won't fit (and can't be modified to fit).

Much as I love tinkering, you can sometimes get stuff laser cut for less that the cost of the consumables you go through making it.

good point, but i hate waiting, so id rather do it at home, perhaps spend more money but it doesnt matter if it costs 20 bucks more, when the guy who's supposed to be making life easier says "come back in a week" and then still fucks me around when i turn up in a week to get the parts.

Noone really gives a fuck about the "little guy" or his "bullshit" projects anymore, and ive had this proved to me time and time again, which is why id rather battle my way through something, do it the fucken hard way, and get the job done when i actually need it, rather than when some other cunt feels like doing it in between real paying jobs.

Whats a ballpark number to laser/waterjet cut anything like the header flanges in the first post?

I reckon you wouldnt get jack shit for under a hundred bucks.

I dont have the cad skills anyway, so theyd likely sting me for some crappy programming fee as well.

A hunjy buys a lot of drill bits and hacksaw blades lol.

(different matter of course, if you dont have, or cant spare a million hours of fucking around, or are just a shit cunt with hand tools)

The flange for the inlet manifold for the racer has seven bolt holes and four inlet runner holes, cost me $50.
The real basic stuff in Autocad is so easy to learn, I managed it.

The bloke at the water cutting place was pretty happy with me because apparently I'm the first person he's had where all the lines have been joined-up properly so he didn't have to fiddle with the drawing to make it work.

Some guys will take a car to a pro to get the firewall plasma cut out. Other guys will plug away with a drill bit for hours in a carport. These guys with the drill, there the ones I want to hang with...

                      With a hand-drill, obviously.

Yea costs for a WJC are unusual and are very dependant on the client and the business we are doing at the time.

I going to charge the OP thousands as I need quite a few new parts for the xdub...muahahaa

Ányone bother to suggest surface grinding....any good engine machineshop should be able to do it for you.

We've had exhaust manifolds done many times when the flange has warped...normally cost around 15-20 bux.

Good point - it takes time to save time sometimes. For example, I was going to sand-bend the pipes for this, but thought it'd be quicker and easier to just buy mandrel bends and cut / weld it up. Problem is I thought that well over a week ago, and still haven't actually made it to an exhaust shop to buy those mandrel bends. I'll probably end up just sand-bending them .
