Single phase motor FTW, have personal hate with VVVF drives
Know anyone that works for a large industrial or manufacturing company or perhaps even a electrical contractors , ford or holden manufacturing or perhaps even one of the refineries, if so they might be able to get it at their companies price.
you cant spell advertisements without semen between the tits
I want to buy a cold saw. It has a 3phase motor that is curiously marked 415/240 and amps at 2.5/4.6.
I don't have 3 phase power so what do I have to do to change it to single phase?
I had this problem recently as I'm currently working from home. I couldnt get a single phase coldsaw that ran slow enough (I mostly work with stainless steel). They suggested I get a bandsaw, I was sceptical because Ive always used a cold saw as there accurate and cut straight and I just couldnt see a bandsaw being as good, but I'm converted, it makes a nice cut and blades last for ages (only $50 to replace anyway). I'm not talking a little $300 bandsaw, Its a mitre headed saw with adjustable feed, coolant, etc (single phase and adjustable speed via changing belts).
I'm guessing it's not too hard to spot the electricians in this thread.
it works... highly likley to add noise to the line..
I have had retarded so called "electrical engineers" say yeah man it will start it self just connect up two legs of the motor and it will turn over by it's self :knock: but run at 1/3rd less power...
I runn the vdf option, look up a guy called ASA drives on ebay, he will help you out. Been running one of his 1phase 240V to 415V three phase inverters for a year now...
I also had some spanner at ABB tell me there was no such thing as a VFD that could do 240V single phase to 415V 3 phase.... I inveted him to see one running in my shed.
Also have a look on a forum Practicalmachinist.com, they have a full section on how to do this, one word of warningyou will have to factor in how their electricity system works
