Ok, well I'll have a scout around and see if a V160 type clutch plate will work with a W58 type pressure plate.

V160 is a pull type clutch isnt it? I have to use a push setup with the T56.

You will need the pressure plate and the drive plate if you want to use the V160 clutch. Can't mix and match, the W58 clutch is a different diameter.

Yes the V160 clutch is a pull-type arrangement, and this is part of the reason it's much better than the W58 clutch (read: arseloads of clamp).

Sounds like it might not be an option for your setup. In which case, button clutch for you. Have fun and try not to obliterate your drivetrain.

Multiplate clutches put a lot more shock through the drivetrain so they can help you to start breaking axles, diffs and gearboxes too. I am a big fan of ceramic sprung button single plates if you need to drive them on the road. My race car uses one and is very reliable and easy to drive. Good thing is the can also slip a little which is a handy thing.

Do you find they wear down the flywheel/pressure plate noticeably more than a standard one?

And alot of stuff he says is total bullshit.

Single plate ceramic with a decent pressure plate will do you (either mod the stock one, or get a new one).

Unsprung clutch plate if you want to be a real man about things.

ps: dont' be a jew. doig things shit costs heaps more than just doing it right, because you ahve to do it shit, then do it shit a fwe more times, then realise you were wrong and do it properly anyway... just do it properly and it's done and you don't have to worry about it.

the moer things you half do, the more likely you are to bail on the project... i know from experience

oh, and the other problem with cheap clutches is that they're shit - fail more easily and also can't get as much clamp out of them

stock v160 clutch uses a unsprung disk / dual mass flywheel , which takes a lot of the shock loading.

The pressure plate im using is a Toyota factory item, no idea how much clamping pressure will be possible but I'll see what the clutch guy can do.

Im not using all cheap shit, only the things I can get away with. Im not going to throw countless amounts of money at something unless I need to. The cheaper it is, the quicker I can finish it

I do agree with you though.....Ive done many many things on this car more than once. 2 intercoolers with custom pipes, 3 exhausts, 2 battery relocation jobs, 3 airboxes, 3 fuel pumps.....and its been off the road the entire time.....but at least Im still going!! :p
