wrecker swapped the sump for us. was a straight bolt in otherwise.

the only issue we had was getting it to idle - turns out the chamber the IACV is in is longer in the VY, so the plunger kept unwinding from the motor! fix was to swap the whole throttle body from the VT motor. probably wouldn't have been an issue if the wrecker had left the VY IACV on.

            Alloy sump on ecotechs.

            Loose/broken flex plate?

the verdict is... the owner doesn't seem to be in a hurry to fix it, and i'm in no hurry to pull it apart to look at everything. it's been like this for 6 months so far so it'll be interesting to see how long it lasts.

nice, best course of action for a dirty old v6 commode, drive till it stops, then replace with wrecker engine (like should have happend in the first place) will be almost cheaper than a vrs kit if you do have to pull it down again, plus the parts to repair whatever the fault is.

but pull it down anyway to see what the fault was out of curiosity when it moos no more so we know out of interest.

if it's not blowing blue smoke and whatever just drive it 'til it blows

                          then pop in another ecotec
