Regarding two bikes on the trailer - I've found that a standard 6x4 is a bit of a pain to fit two dirt bikes on. When the bikes are close enough to the edge of the trailer so the handlebars don't hit, you then can't get enough angle on the outer tie-downs for me to be too comfortable about how secure they are.

What I did to solve the issue is make up and bolt on some arms that extend out and up from the sides of the trailer so that the outer tie-downs go on nearly a 45 degree angle, out to about as wide as the guards of the trailer. That combined with removeable C-channel that slots into the floor and tie down points in the middle of the tray for the inner tie-downs, the bikes are rock solid when tied down and easy to load.

It's not too bad I guess, but in hindsight, I would have just purchased a proper welded trailer than a kit job. It gets some awesome chassis twist with 2 bikes on the back going around tight corners lol.
I was thinking of getting one of these

Do you have the floor option? I was wondering if the metal floor might tighten them up a bit.

Sure do have metal floor, and it doesn't tighten it up that much.

However, I use mine to tow my motorbike, sometimes two. The only real issue I have is going around corners, which given I'm going dirtbike riding, there is usually a lot on the way. 300kg of top heavy stuff going around a corner makes the chassis twist a fair bit.

If you were just going to use it to take your lifesize Nathan Hindmarsh doll and other random shit to the dump etc, it would probably be ok.

yeah the top heaviness of the bikes would be the main issue.. i wonder if there are any engineering standards for that kinda thing?

Yeah rta lists guidelines for trailer construction. I'd imagine qld will too.
Use a ute Tub. Take 2 hours to make.
