    Ive never heard anything good about SSS, ever.. and I can't see the point in going to the effort in building a motor with parts that are likely to grenade.. if you want a fun grenade why not just build a real silly, stoke stroke 304 and make it rev it's balls off. I'm betting 8.5k rpm sounds pretty rad in a 304!

    Everyones always gone on about COME being overpriced, but Ive never heard anyone whinge once they've gone down that path

    When I investigated these options a few years ago I just went the blower route.. one week turn around time, no headaches, bulk skids!

    edit: and you get warranty with a blower!

      I have a COME crank to suit standard rods. Any particular pistons I should be looking for?

        srp via precision have a real nice proper forged flattop for holdens with standard rods, in a hyper or castie ive no fucking idea whats available anymore.

        Probe etc "may" have something but prepare to be raped if its a "custom" via one of the thieving cunt wholesalers here.

        around 1.49" compression height is what youll be looking for.

        If you want to make 10 hundred phone calls you might find someone with an ACL rebuild kit or just pistons still on the shelf.

        No idea if the piston business of ACL is still around though since the "restructure"

        tk will know more plenty than I about holden pistons for standard rod stuff.

              Seen a couple of dead holden V8's filled with "procomp crap" on the floor of mates neighbouring workshop. He hates them and regularly replaces them with COME internals because they aren't shit and don't break.

              In summary : Procomp et al is shit and breaks.
              : Don't buy it or it will break and you will be cross/ a sad panda.
              : Spend more money and get quality products.

                    the only idiots i can "somewhat" understand being attracted to procomp anything are holdenv8 guys, purely because the market is so small that the prices are too high for almost everything (they are still dickheads though if 11ty billion bad internet references doesnt dissuade them)

                    Anyone with access to yank parts (which really are reasonably priced and mostly is what its advertised to be) needs their "modified car licence" revoked for even considering using ebay garbage.

                    Its not about "hating china", its about procomp being a bunch of cunts.

                      Good quality cranks arent that pricey... Why spend 5 figures on a new engine/box and support system then save $500 or less on a better crank?

                          the chevy cranks are fine, there was apparently an issue with the holden cranks back in the day which is why they had some breakages.

                            It's almost too cheap really isn't it? I wonder why that is…

                            The only thing I have heard of is people using their bare castings and basically blue printing the head and filling with good stuff. But the guides are shit and the valve seats fall out so you would have to start from scratch.

                            Good stuff can be had for not that much more
