yer sorry i understand what we're talking about, i guess what I was thinking about in head was the fact that everything you read about rebuilding (esp. dinosaur v8's) is that the side clearance on the rod is super duper critical, too tight and you have oil issues, obviously too loose and they walk and bearing make contact with crank.
you were saying that the side clearance even on a normal crank guided rod is so much more than the rod bearing that opening it up more wouldn't change the oiling any, i guess im just suprised that it seems so critical to not have them too tight (but not 5-10 times more tight than factory..) yet the amount of oil coming out of the con rod bearing is always going to be less than what could move through the side clearance of a rod... it made sense in my head but im not sure im expressing it very well.
....anyway, carry on, this piston guided rod stuff is facinating, i honestly never knew it was common before this thread came up.
