Bit late! Assume that was a mazda box with a front slip joint rather than a uni, but interesting demo of phasing here a couple of minutes in -Originally posted by bpmi have had three of the fucking things let go on my dyno, always around 7000rpm and it scares the absolute shit out of you. and then makes a mess of the exhaust, dyno, floorpan. always been 1 piece shafts. last one broke into three pieces and launched the "middle" bit across the workshop
Momus has even slipped off the Ipra radar it seems unless he's in the "secret handshake" area!

What was the cost bloke?Originally posted by psi999 View PostSo i ended up with a single 3.5" heavy duty aluminum driveshaft i had made in Texas and air freighted here.

Couple of thousand KM's under its belt now, no vibrations, no issues - works brilliantly.
From memory weight was around 1/3 of the steel 2-piece.
I'm looking at something similar but from the Driveshaft shop.
Bit confused why you didn't go local?

Interested to know correlation between weight/size/material and strength/rpm suitability (race guys, dale, etc?)
eg. how would one similar to the OE steel 2pc compare to the aftermarket aluminium one?
As an aside, I've always had 1pc tailshafts & never had a problem with balance... I don't know where that rumour came from about them being hard to balance as from the half-dozen I've been involved with in various cars there's never been a single issue.Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty

Some Chev Suburbans have a 2050mm tailshaft, but they hardly rev.
Reportedly the Coon wagon had the longest one pirece in a passenger vehicle.Lots of minis & mokes including a G13b powered Sports Sedan, a couple of Swift Gtis, a Goggomobil, Porsche 928S, Polo Gti, BMW 540i, a WRX and a few others.

Tail shaft speed has nothing to do with engine revs!Originally posted by awdmoke View PostSome Chev Suburbans have a 2050mm tailshaft, but they hardly rev.

The faster the car goes, the faster the tailshaft goes

Also depends on diff/gearbox ratios.
Coons were speed limited to 180kmh because the tailshafts pretzeled above that.Originally posted by Rdyno70ynu has to be the most retarded cunt here. "Help me please" me "you need to remove your head" him "fuck off cunt I'm to lazy fuck off out of my thread you told me to do something I don't want to do so you're a cunt fuck off can some one please tell me an easier way???"Originally posted by TripperIts a tight battle between you and rogercordia for the most retarded member on here, thou i think you have it by 5 window licks
