    130+db.. My meter peaked out.

Yeah M.J I thinks that's the best option for non bi-plane sounds. I will have to see if an exhaust shop will sell me some bends and a x-pipe off the shelf.

Don't be a homo. Just make an x pipe out of two 180 degree bends. Cut a bit off the back of each bend and weld together.

yep seen this a few times too - definitely space for it!

i dunno what kind of muffler this is being so stubby but another interesting setup

That seems the easiest way to fix the issue. Nothing fancy.

          KISS works, unless you're female.

the first setup shown in clutch-monkeys post with the rest of the piping in place is certainly the ideal one.

you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

jim - looks close to what you were proposing:
              http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...e-exhaust.html

I've seen a couple of iterations of both Steve and Jeff's mufflers. They are pretty popular up here with the spec 3.0 liter racers and the vintage racers. They do all have crossovers of one kind or another. I know Steve is pretty convinced that a crossover is important, and he has done the testing to support his position. From what he has posted on here (and I kind of hate to speak for him...) it sounds like the internal crossover construction of the dual in / dual out Magnaflow is a worthy substitute for all the extra external plumbing.

The Magnaflow is actually meant to have both inlets together on one end, with both outlets together on the other end. Think running it lengthwise down middle of a muscle car. Internally, it's just two perforated tubes crossing in the center, so a V-8's left bank exhaust is actually mostly coming out the right pipe, and vis versa, with the two mixing in the middle where they cross.

In our application, with the two inlets opposing one another and essentiallyalmost blasting away at one another, that center mixing just has to be a bit more violent. All I can imagine (and I may be quite wrong) are high pressure exhause pulses crossing one another in that middle "X" like cars in the middle of a "figure eight" race. Except ours never collide, due to the even fire nature of our motors, and equal length primary and secondary header pipes.

Very interesting that the flow set up is more or less the same as what we need! Well I'd better start looking for one elcheap'o.

                Or...
