    The ARB Twin Air Compressor that I have on board is great, they sell them in 24v configuration as well.

    I have the dual thumper in the back of my 4WD and it's great for getting tyres from 12psi to road going pressure but seems overkill for topping up tyres on the daily. Factor in an extra $50 for a reliable gauge and some extra fittings to fit it inline. The gauge it comes with will almost certainly be out and it's fitted to the tyre end, while the switch to kill the compressor is on the compressor. I threw a new gauge on at the compressor end so that I can just switch the compressor off when it's at the point I want it rather than constantly disconnect, check, reconnect and inflate a bit, check.

    I think the most logical options in this case are either set up the compressor you already own for free, maybe in an out of the way spot and grab a retractable hose reel next time supercheap has them on sale so it's easy to use or grab a cordless one that has the set-and-forget function and uses batteries you already own.

    I have no real excuse for wasting the $150 (it was on special) for the DeWalt 18V pump, which I've not needed to use yet, compared to working-out how to service the compressor & then using it.
    Except it's easier & more fun to go shopping for tools than the garage shuffling required to get the Escort shell outta the way so I can get to where the compressor is stored, and then to find a place to store all the stuff that's in the only available corner the compressor could sit.

    Both the DeWalt and the AEG 18V chargers say you can leave a battery in it, as it'll turn off unless the battery needs charging. So I never have flat battery issues. My biggest issue is having chosen one brand as my 18V solution & then inheriting some useful tools of another brand ...

    This. I have 30m of air line on mine even taking into account the time to coil that back up itís quicker than waiting for the inevitably flat battery tool to recharge.

    Yeah just bought one. Drained the 2ahr battery adding 10psi to 4 tyres. I only want it for pushbike tyres and adding a couple of psi to 2 tyres at the track if needed

    anyone found a compact good quality dual 12VDC/240VAC compressor unit? want something that can be used in workshop for inflation, pressure testing and cleaning etc not for running any serious tools though. only seen an ozito

    the little ones are fine for a low profile tyre that might be down a few PSI.

    the big beasts are more for doing 4 x 285/75R17 MTs up from 18psi to 40+psi after coming off the beach without overheating and taking an hour.

    Im considering it over the Ryobi due to 240v, and also having a ton of Ozito batteries that i adapt to other platforms. (The Ryobi one i refer to above was borrowed from a mate)

    I just figure that if you don't actually have a flat tire - you could go to servo... If you can't be fucked getting out your real compressor..
