    Upping compression

According to a nifty little L series engine calculator, I can swap L24 (2.4L inline 6) conrods into my L28 (2.8L inline 6) for a decent boost in compression.

Now this is L series specific, but i am sure there are general rules that some of you experienced engine builders will know?

I just want to know the realities of this and any downfalls.

    Thanks guys.

The L24 rods are 2.8mm longer than the L28 rods which is a fair wack.As most L series engines have the piston sit around 1mm below the deck at tdc then some sort of machining of the piston would be required.

Why not just get the block decked by a mm or two ?

Yeh, the other option is getting the head or block decked but I have a turbo on the cards and dont want to stuff the motor up for that. Plus I have the relatively rare turbo block and head which I dont really want to butcher.

I guess I should just decide whether the car will be turbocharged or not from the start and build it that way,
