    Z18t mods

I have recently broken a g'box on my Z18 1600 at Heathcote and am interested in fitting an auto with trans brake, manual body etc. I have been looking at the jatco 3 speeds from a 260Z as a starter any thoughts would be good.

Also looking at a new crank to get some more revs out of the Z18 as at the moment the engine makes good power 190rwkw at 24psi at 6000rpm with a big roller, cooler, autronic etc. I was told a 180b L18 crank would be a direct change is better balanced than the Z crank?

hmm interesting, I was under the impression the L18 and Z18 bottom ends were mainly similar. The L18 crank might not really be any better than having your Z18 crank professionally balanced..
Alternatives to the L18 crank are the cranks from L20b, Z22, etc which will also increase your capacity and subsequently, power!

Thats awesome power from a Z18. Do you have a big cam and ported head on it too?

An FJ turbo manual gearbox might be a better manual option.

its got a big cam (similar to fury bluebird) but head is standard with o-rings and a copper gasket and a stud kit, it has a custom plenum and extractors a gt2835 roller and t-smart 35mm external gate. I broke two drive shafts on the line at heathcote and then found the box had shit itself. it is quite hard to drive with power between 4000 and 6000 i want to rev it to about 7500ish ATS ch thier Z18t bluebird at 9000 (456rwhp) to do a 10.9. I would like to get my power up to around 230rwkw and lay dow some low 11s or better

Did you fot the o-rings and stud kit because of head sealing problems or were these just done when the engine was built?

o-rings were done when the engine was built but we had some gasket problems when good boost was used so a stud kit was organised and no more problems.
