Is there anything available beyond the pintara 4.11s?

I've had an extensive look around and could not find any at all.

Is the BW 78 an 8" ring gear as Richmond gears do up to 4.62 if that's the case?

Approximately, the ring gear is 198mm (7.8"), close enough?

          Approx price?

Gayer than aids, nothing on offer for the old BW 78. Ah well, pintara gears it is then.

Nah it seems to be an overlooked diff tbh, 9 bolt diff housing and 7.8" ring gear (apparently thats why its called the BW78).

Pintara (4.11) gears will probably end up costing $100, $200 for better ratio would have been nice but doesn't seem to be available.

I have some 4.11 gears here but had planned to swap them into my new diff that has 3.45 currently as I will have 6 manual gears now.

do you have any 3.9's for swapsies?

Almost, mine should be 3.7, fairly sure the 3.9s only came in GTS model R31 Skylines. i.e. there's only 300 of them around.

You don't really want 4.11s when you've got a 6-speed box anyway, thats just greedy.

GTS was the only manuals with 3.9s, all the autos had also had 3.9s.

anyone know if these borg warner 78 series diffs have 'master' rebuild kits available?
are there factory rebuild instructions / manual available?
what are the recommended pinion preload and backlash settings?
what is the correct method of setting pinion preload with a crush sleeve (as opposed to shims)?

(i'll phone a diff shop soon enough but wanted to know if anyone here knows in the meantime)

shims it is but you need a case spreader to shim it correctly

theres not a master kit as such but all the parts to do the job are available

though i did just find this
