Rubber in the radiator top tank- this normal???

    Hi guys,

I've just pulled my radiator out of my Datsun and found a fair chunk of rubber near the inlet in the top tank of my radiator. As i scavenged the radiator out of a mates car, I'm uncertain as to its origins, but I believe its from an N/A CA18 Silvia.

My question is, do I leave the rubber there, or rip it out??? The radiator doesnt seem to take much fluid. I'd been experiencing hotter water temps, and a blown hose in the lead up to finding the rubber in there.

    Any help????

    Cheers

should be nothing in your radiator other than coolant.
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

      cheers! thats what I thought...
I got the pliers in there, and ripped out a 7-8 inch strip of old coolant piping :o

      Couldnt believe it!!!!!!!

Now to replace the damn coolant pipe, and see how my cooling woes go!
