    re-ground cams and re-surfaced rockers

Are these are good alternative to a new cam and new rockers. I'm looking at doing this with an L series cam and rockers, has anyone had experience with re-ground cams and re-surfaced rockers on an L series engine, or re-ground cams and re-surfaced rockers in general ?

I've used a wide range of L6 re-ground cams (Wade and Crow for example) as well as re-ground rockers to match (Wade) and never had a problem.

Getting the geometry right is absolutely essential in any L6 engine, and this can get expensive given the added cost of lash pads.

A new cam + rockers is going to be pretty exy, and not really worth it, IMHO.

Kalium, have you got the book How to Hotrod & Race Your Datsun, Bob Waar, Steve Smiths Autosports Publication? It has heaps On the L series boat anc.., errr, engines.

Tarting up L series engines can get very expensive, as lambs indicated. You are doing a turbo aren't you. Just get the basics right and you will have a quick car anyway, IMHO.

Clive from clives cams is pretty good with L series stuff. He used to be the man at wades but now has his own business. He can do billets or regrinds and does some good turbo grinds.

OK, Alan Stean from the Zcar workshop may have something or check with John Siddons on the Gold Coast. Do you know of John? It is just that I have seen people throw money at L series engines with little result, which is not to say that you cannot get reasonable power at a reasonable price from them.

No I haven't heard of John, do you have any contact details ?

Im planning on not throwing any more than $1000 at the engine (that includes a rebuild), and I'm doing all of the work myself.

Not sure if I posted the planned mods somewhere else, but this is what Im in the process of doing
              Flattop pistons (10:1)
              New Fuel rail
              Injectors
              RB30 ECU
              70mm MAF sensor
              64mm TB
              2.5inch exhaust
              valve job
              re-ground cam
              slight work on the ports
...and thats about it I think

Not looking for a rocket, aiming for about 150rwhp

Don't suppose that JS would mind the publication of 5537 4977 as the phone number for his Gold Coast car mechanical repair business. Maybe mates rates
