    Space invader: stiffening agent?

Was having an innocent little chat to a friend yesterday, and the topic of chassis stiffening came up (the automotive sort :p)

Anyways, he mentioned using space invader to fill the sills, chassis etc to stiffen the car, apparently it's quite effective? Would that block the drainage holes and trap water etc?

    Strange.

Not a good idea on a road car due to the increased corrrosion risk. (If you care enough about the car and want to keep it for a while that is).

    cheers

Some say that it is ok to fishoil the cavity then after a few days carefully fill it with foam. Need a few drainholes to allow excess foam to escape, put your finger over any ecaping foam to create a bit of pressure and to seal off the hole.

Would be a problem if you had to repair the panel later, welding would be impossible. The thing to do would be to practice injecting the foam first. I'm thinking about doing it, have'nt decided.

3 things...its highly flamable, is open celled so absorbs water and also gives off a toxic fumes when it burns (Cynanide).
I have used it...but my car is fibreglass so the issues are a little different.
There are foaming resins that can be used if you can be bothered...but the car is not repareable in case of an 'off'

About $250 AUD for 5 kits which would do 95% of the hollow structural members you would want to fill.
It's a structural foam, closed cell polyurethane so it doesn't absorb water.
