S14 doing something strange

Hi guys,
My car is doing something really strange... I hold the throttle flat and it revs normally out to 6000 and then stays there, I grab second and it feel like I have no boost and the revs slowly go up to about 5500 and then even slower get to about 6000 and stop.

What's going on?

since you haven't asid so, I am going to assume that it is stock.
going by this there are a few things..

1.) stock intercooler is just getting heat soaked and your engine is breathing in hot air and your ECU is pulling back the timing to prevent damage.

this explains why it feels like you have no boost.

2.) stock exhaust on the 200sx's are shit and very restrictive.. at certain points it is close to 1.5inch in diameter.. this is the cause of your car not reving over 6000rpm.

fixes..
1.) aftermarket larger front mounted intercooler..
places like wwwtheintercoolerguy.com have 600x300x70 hybrid branded coolers with stainless pipes as a kit for under $1200 and instructions on how to install it yourself.

2.) obviously a larger exhaust.
3 inch exhaust in Mild steel with a stainless polished canon muffler like everyone else will set you back about $1000 and give your engine the breathing ability.

If you still have the stock air box and filter, maybe get a K&N panel filter for the stock air box for better breathing..
if you have a pod filter, get a partition for it and a cold air intake to get fresh/cold air to it rather than the hot engine air it probably gets.

that should fix you up good.
