Alloy fuel tank into XP falcon

I came across a tank supposedly made for an XP falcon, too cheap to refuse and should be significantly easier to go EFI. Took the original tank out today to test fit it, it’s definitely not bolt in.

Im thinking cut the floor out forward of the tank area to move it ~100mm towards the front of the car. Mount the tank on a 3mm angle frame welded to the underside of the floor and sheet in the remaining space.

Have not done anything like this, am I on the right track?

check clearance to the diff on full travel - if you putting an 8"diff or 9" later they are significantly bigger that the 7 1/4" original .

usual thing is a mustang 16 US gal tank.

or buy one with EFI in it

I have an 8.8 cut down, just waiting on an axle.
Eyeballing it looks like plenty of space.

Battery will be in the boot so will trim to suit.

The boot floor needs replacement, so it’s not a lot more work than what needs to be replaced.
