Any easy/cheap ways of improving the fuel economy of a 4 litre Ford EL Falcon?

    but any way if you want to check a/f figures next time your at sams stick his meter up the exhaust pipe :D

      I also reckon the econ that you are getting now is pretty damn good. I only wish the manual EL had a similar top gear ratio as the auto. BTW the EL has a 68L Fuel tank, Pretty sure its been that way since the EA, but the EL is notorious for "gagging" early when you try to fill it right up. Kinda like women...

        Would it be possible at part throttle to feed the ECU a constant 1/2 volt signal so that it "thinks" the engines running at stoich, but modify the airflow sensor signal to run it leaner?

        To add to what jmac said about lean a/f ratios, I was looking at some aircraft sites a while ago & a couple of them had some nice graphs plotting exhaust temps against a/f ratio, peak temps actually occurred at about stoich 14.7:1, running leaner actually drops the temperature as does running richer. Why... when you run lean you are burning less fuel therefore you generate less heat, & when you run rich the excess fuel has a cooling effect.
