    Neodymium magnet storage

OK I got a few of these Neil Diamond magnets for a manifold to make soon.

What is the best way to store them so they don't lose any of their strength?

in a wooden box?? sorry. i was under the impression that rare earth magnets dont lose thier magnetic strength easily if at all. Im no expert on the subject but i do know that they are incredibly strong and i wouldnt be overly worried about the storage.
I have to ask though, when you say they are for a manifold that your making soon did you mean to use as an aid in its construction, or a more "out of the square" idea?? sorry, i always suffer from bad curiousity...

      wtf are these for??

permanent magnets only lose their strength if they are shocked such as being hit with something or dropped onto a hard surface. keep them on your fridge door mate

Dont pinch your finger or body part between two of them.

        All bad.

OK good, I'll just throw them in the box of steam pipe bends.
slo360, yeah I intend to use the magnets to hold the steam pipe sections together while I tack the manifold up. I've tested it and with enough magnets I could practically hold a whole runner together without much trouble.
If I threw them on the fridge I don't think I'd ever get them off!

do they play hot august nights while you're welding?

i'm guessing they're similar to the magnets you use to hold things together when welding, i just attach mine to the base of my workbench, and they haven't been affected yet (even after dropping one on concrete)

old hard drives are a great source for these types of magnets.

Tell me about it, we destroyed 5 good hard drives on the weekend!
