    Why is non balanced?

Surely it can be balanced. The EF only has the 12 counterweight crank while the AU is 8 or something, not really that much difference. The length of the rods should make for revability.

Well its a toss up. I have an EF and a AU long motor. Each has its own benefits. We have to decide which one we are going to use. Longer rods increase revabiliy and so does a properly counterweighted crank. It would be sweet if they mated up.

AU has the better bottom end, it is a shiteload smoother than any EF or EL through the revs, and I think its mostly due to the crank and rods. I'd use AU if the head wasn't an issue, i.e. if it was going to be swapped out.

BA long motor + all anciliaries would be teh shizzle.

DennisRB30 i'll PM you an article on Ford I6 heads that'll help you out, I think the AU head would be best, it's more rev happier because of the better setup e.g lighter valve stems. Also with some porting they can apparantly flow HEAPS. The BA head is apparantly a tad bit chunkier than the SOHC heads so you'd either have to get some sort of bonnet buldge/scoop or cut a hole.

That would be great man, you can just send it to dennisw01@optusnet.com.au

Thanks to Needforspeed I found this link to autospeed that may be of interest to ford i6 tinkerers.

Looks like the AU head is not good stock, but has the best potential once ported, and the porting only costs $350.

Long & short of it is that a BA head probably bolts up to an AU block but you will have all sorts of drama running it with the std ecu, & you would need all the manifolds & everything else.

Basically it would be cheaper & better to trade your car in on a BA

Yeah, but none of those negatives are relevant for someone who is doing a ground up engine build.

In that case it would probably be cheaper to but a brand new engine from ford for $7k (turbo)& just stick it in.

Things that will cause you drama are mainly drive by wire throttle & the fact that it is map sensored, not too many ecus out there will run it properly.

I could do you a deal on a complete motec setup including loom, sensors & actuators for everything including independantly varying cam timing...for about the cost of the engine.

If you are interested I can probably arrange a whole engine with everything done & a nizpro kit on it running motec ready to drop into your car but I have a feeling your budget might get smashed to bits.

Or I can get a price on a head for you to see if it will fit & then its up to you to sort out how to run it.

Na, man. Thanks anyway, but that money spent elsewhere will result in more power.
