If you are going to have to fark around & recore/relocate pipes etc then just go the PWR route. I put one in the BA, its huge & cost about $600. For that, in my mind its not worth rooting around. Your relocate/ducting idea sounds good provided my brain is understanding it correctly.

Of course I could do you a deal on a new std BA radiator but I dont think its worthwhile.

Thanks edo.....but no thanks. I am just waiting on an email back from PWR atthe moment.....edo, can you tell me what measurements they require etc? Can they add brackets to the top to locate the radiator?

Mark, my FJ now has a 88 degree C thermostat, up from 84, the idea was to run it a bit hotter for better efficiency. I don't see a problem with running constantly in the mid 90's or even a touch more on occasions.

Agree with the airflow points made here, can make a big difference.

Where are the outlets on the radiator? top and bottom drivers side?
R31 skyline radiator is reasonably good, however plastic tanks, but the inlout/outlet are the top and bottom of the drivers side...Just an idea, probably in the wrong places I spose...

I wish to clarify my comments about thermos. I hate them and that's that. I know they only make a difference at walking pace.

I just wanted you to know that I hate thermos. That is all.

Datman, give them as many dimensions as you can, basically pull your old one out & measure it. Add a bit here & there where there is room & add thickness to it as well. You can specify where you want the mounting brackets/tabs.

datman - i had a gemini that had overheating probs cause of heavy modifications, i managed to find a Holden HK TG radiator and this thing fitted all most perfect, just got the hose fitting locations swapped from left to right($10) and drilled 4 new mounting holes($free)... worked 100% picked up the radiator for $90 from wreckers in great nick. and fitted 2x 12 inch davies craig thermo's.
Might be an idea to check one out(i just took a tape measure along to wreckers), i would imagine the dato and gemi engne bay size wouldnt be to much differnet.(might be a really cheap option !! )

                      Cheers

Don't forget that you've also got the option of putting a high pressure radiator cap on. (If you haven't already).

Just don't do it with plastic end tanks :O

Datman: So what exactly do you plan to do regarding the small factory cutout for the radiator? I'm thinking you'll need to put some carefull thought into ducting (as you said) and maybe a sort of under tray (as Bill S had suggested).

The rest of ya: See attached pic of my sunny to get an idea of the size (height is roughly the same as the width).

I name us 'Cult of the Clutch Fan Fans'

I have seen so many overheating problems caused by electric water pumps and thermos. If the clutch works correctly the fan will cause bugger all addititonal load on the engine, and will suck an enormous amount of air through the rad. I reckon a good fan will still help cool up to maybe 20 kays or even more. Certainly will be better than some big thermo blocking airflow all the time.
