    Fuel neck restrictor?

I guess I have to fit a fuel neck restrictor as part of an engine conversion process. Question is, does such a thing exist as a purchaseable item or do I just get a random bit of tube welded in?

I just bought the filler neck from something with a generic shape that suited. I found magna was spot on for my uses. I wrote "Unleaded fuel only" in texta inside the fuel flap and the engineer was happy with that too LOL

I didn't think of doing that. Unfortunately filler tubes aren't the easiest things to get out of cars without pulling fuel tanks out.

yeah, but wreckers usually remove the tanks before they crush the cars, I asked if I could have one and they said "$5 if you can get it out". was a piece of cake on the magna.

Didn't think it was that hard? Aren't tanks usually hooked up to the filler via a rubber tube?
          as short as possible

yeah many have the neck top accessable from inside the boot and you get under the car to pull it off the tank and haul it up into the boot.

is it really still needed since fuel stations are not selling super anymore?
sex is like air - it only becomes important when your not getting any.

                good point.

but ADR's arn't the most up to date legislation out there.

there used to be generic spring thingos you could stick in old necks - but they were poo, don't look for one.

I just don't want to crawl around under cars in the wreckers I had to pull the whole tank out of my car to get to the filler because the clamps were in such a position that I couldn't access them with the tank in the car.

then find one that's easier to remove :p or get the wrecker to do it (my favorite option)

Yeah, only cost me about $20 for the unleaded filler-neck for the Volvo, walked into a Volvo specialist wrecker & asked for it. In my case it was easy 'cos it was basically the same part I already had except with a smaller filler-hole; if you wanted to hack the end off it's probably worth paying $20 not to crawl around under a car.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

yeah but no one would want to have an volvo parts on their car unless they have no choice (ie: you Forg) even if it is only the filler neck.

bad advice. go get the magna one if they're as easy as Secoh says.

Better yet - find out if you really need one now.

you can buy them, any compliance place will have them they cost about 10 bucks. I got mine from compliance components in andelaide, you die grind out the stock filler neck, use an expander to flare it a few mm then sikaflex in the new filler works real good.

Changing stuff for compliance is boring Plus I hate wreckers.
