I thought media/sand blasting rebounds or embeds into bitumen deadening.

I used a heatgun and wide blade chisel on my Z.

I have seen photos of the dry ice method and was very sceptical until then, looks to easy to be true.

            very interesting!

            i might give it ago.

i don't think i'm patient enough for the heat gun anymore.... unless i'm not doing it right?

i did heat gun, only took a couple hours.

heat it til its soft and plyable and lift it off trying not to tear it.

Dont heat it til its goo.

You need a proper heat gun as well I guess.

yeah i went and bought a supercheap auto one for $40

i've been using the hottest setting, might give it ago tomorrow on the lower one....

so i should use a scraper to get it started, then pull with my hands?

hehe, the way i did it was heat the area up and then lever it off with the chisel/scraper constantly heating the next part to be lifted.

I am sure there are a million vairations on the same thing, but you will work it out.

I've been removing the sound deadner on my Lancer recently, the only way I could get it off was to get it hot and running then scrape off. I have thrown out two buckets full of re-hardened sound deadner so far. To get the last bits off, I have been using a wire brush on a drill and eucalyptus oil, smelly and messy, but it is working.

knotted wire brush on a grinder will give you more power/leverage.

I tapped from underneath the car on the floorpan a few times which cracked it, then I just peeled it all away

1300's have a massive sheet of the stuff layered on the floor and trans tunnel and it was melting from the heat of the rotary exhaust.
