BTW I just picked up an EFI inlet manifold and Trottlebody and fuel rail off my local wrecker today - $60

Why change the TB to one off a V8 when the standard is 65mm?
(at least the one I got today was)

for big hp you need forced induction m8, well.... unless your willing to work the tits off the n/a 6 cyl:D

Another idea, what do you think about fitting triple dual-throat side draft webbers, (modded for e.f.i). Encased in an box , which is connected to an cold intake?

russell booth: clearly you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

i have been working as a mechanic at a major brisbane holden dealersip for the last 3 years, and i can tell you that i have not met one V6 engine that was smoother than the ford equivalent - an inline six is, by its very design, one of the smoothest engines anyone can build - they are naturally balanced, the only smoother engine would be a straight 8, having more firing pulses per revolution then the 6, but at high revs there is a problem with crankshaft twisting, (as it is a very long engine) and packaging is also a problem.

there are approximatly 30 other technicians at my work, and pretty much all of them reckon the 3.8 V6 is a rough old bugger of an engine, and long due to be put out to pasture, and most of those same techs think the sun shines out of holdens bum!

i have personally pulled the heads off about 4 LPG commos in the last 3 years (im not the only one at my dealership either) all before 40,000k, due to worn valve guides, because commos dont handle LPG well at all. (to put that into perspective, i service about 1 LPG car every 4 months, so more often than not i get to pull the heads off too.

the reason you never see a commo taxi is because they die a very early death due to kms - the autos go at or before 200,000k usually, the diffs get noisy and we are forever putting new link pins in the front suspension...as well as the valve guide issue.

how can you say that a falcon engine does not flow at the top end? mine when stock (1992 EB XR6) 161kW/4L makes more power per litre than a 225kW GEN III!!!!!!!! (225kW/5.7)

please get your facts right before slagging off an engione you clearly no very little about.

when i tell people i work at holden they say "so why do you drive a Ford?" i say "i drive a Ford BECAUSE i work at holden!!!"

While I pretty much agree with everything you said, I think the above statement is a bit spurious.
So what if it gets about 1kW per litre better? That means nothing.

Any motorbike engine will crap all over the 40kW/litre of your EB.

Heh, even a Hyundai Accent, with 76Kw from 1.5 litres, makes 51kW/litre!!
Does that make it a better engine than a Ford straight six, or a Gen III?

                              Didn't think so.

Even the KA24E equipped in the Nissan Pintara makes 40kw/litre std from it's 2.4L displacement.
