5 litre kit will do an exterior and interior easy. 100 microns wet is 10 metres square per litre..

Appropriate primers are not really automotive ones, more a 2 pack epoxy. And that should be overcoated within a month or so.

I just used a heap of Protec Polythane 625 and it is truly awesome. It will absorb overspray for ages so it is good for big surface areas. That would work great on a car.. however Protec are completely mental to deal with. Wattyl are easy. Having said that I am sure the last Black I used in the poly U range was tinted locally and they broke my balls about how much tint they used ....

Why don't you use the film that all the big teams are 'painting' their cars with these days? It is super light weight and apparently not expensive.

Muz, It looks like Im buying a truck too, you want to paint both?

Zac, thats how they do V8 supercars these days, mainly because it doesnt have to dry & it can be stuck on rooted panels. Its heaps more money than paint...especially free paint

Yes, free paint, that is valuable. But it may be interesting to compare the cost of the film against hiring a spray booth, painter, etc

Panels still need prepping, priming, filling.. The stick on replaces the top coat which is hardest to get right re quality. The top coat represents about 5% of the effort in painting a car.. I would bet that manufacturers use it to avoid repainting parts 11ty times to get the pearl mica flake metallic to lay right...

Yeah it is getting used on mostly the plastic bumper/trim sections on production cars and composite panels on racecars. I'm liking entertaining the idea that one day someone might do a restoration with it.

Once Muz has his paint gun out Its best he just paint the whole thing rather than just the inside & underneath then having to cover the outside in contact like a school book...
