Add to that a zf cooler, thermo fans and engine oil coolers to be safe long term.

If just wanting to track occasionally, they are fine. Just need fresh, high bp brake fluid. Limp mode will kick if things get too hot, but no they are not an ideal, light weight track car By any means. . There lies the joy in occasionally beating other cars which are expected by many to be traditionally quicker.

                Update.
Ran the medium 265 35 18 A050's at the front and C70 soft Hankook Z221's at the back.
                Car felt great.
Haven't driven R-specs for a while and their predictability made the car feel very fun to drive again.
4 wheel, 2 tonne taxi drifts through the right hander after the fish hook, onto the last back straight.

Only downside only did 8 laps, of which 2 were with clear runs and on it.
They were better than expected and had a lot more to give if I had more laps to find their limits.

The Hankook were showing a bit of wear, but actually suited the cold, July surface at Wakefield perfectly. Using them again this summer to finish them off.

Gut feeling they were only about half a second off my worn Z214 times.

Yeh I've been thinking about running different hardness tyres front/back, using harder ones on the front which on mine are narrower than the rears and wear out first. With a powerful rear driver I reckon front/rear tyre variations are worth considering when doing limited lap sprints.

                    Bit of a thread dig...

I was out at Sandown on Tuesday watching the super sprint series. Only one XR6T, heaps of commonwhores. Spoke to a bloke who had just toasted a set of brand new pads & rotors on the front of his new Clubsport....$1600 gone. Pads just fell apart. He wasnt happy as the HSV dealer had told him they were great for the track....poor bastard.

Got me thinking that if all of these guys can run their commonwhores and do well why no 'coons? The only one running was just happy to lap so not going too fast.

Your XR6T seems plenty fast Mr Nelsonian. Have you done a thread on its details anywhere?

I like your thinking Nelson with softs on the rear, I bought a second hand set of 265's Yoko A048's Medium and they refuse to die, I've done six track days, two Racewars, driven to and from Collie 400km round trip.

I'm onto my second set of fronts first was Federal FZ-201 and now onto Hankook Z221 medium which has done two track days the first was driven 200km to the track, second one trailered.

Softs it is for the rear next time.

I'm bringing the Turbo Taxi down to Winton next year. Hopefully Sandown too.

The secret to getting these cars fast isn't more power. It's focusing on weight reduction, braking and suspension.

They already have too much torque/power for the chassis.

                          Looking forward to it.
Would you go a manual if not a daily?

Definitely manual if I knew it would eventually because the track car it is becoming.
The ZF just gets too hot even with external cooler and thermo fan.
I shift manually anyway at the track but it sometimes misses the 3rd to 2nd shift when ABS activates while braking for tight corners. (Results in a massive turbo lag 3rd gear corner exit from 50kmh)
