    A few track days in on the RS3's now & I don't think the sidewalls are too stiff on the street at all, and they are a lot quieter than the AD08's on the road as well so comfort levels are overall better I think.

    The sidewall flex is pretty noticeable tho, the AD08's kinda fall over and lock into a turn while the RS3 has a lot more resistance to flexing in the first place. Personal preference but I think the Hankooks offer better feel, but otherwise couldn't split a hair between them in dry performance.

      What size tyres have you got and how much did you pay per tyre for the AD08Rs?

      I paid $280 fitted per 245/40/17, I found out later I could have got them $100 cheaper per tyre in a 235 ($180 ea).
      maybe its not so much the sidewalls but a combination with tread depth, which the advans have more, I run 11kg springs up front so it tends to amplify things, both tyres were 225/45/17, just upgraded to 245s AD08s for even more bagging

        Went and got the RE003's from my local Bridgestone Tyre Centre, cost the same as Jax at $199 each, 4 for price of 3 deal. Will add some impressions once I've scrubbed them up a bit.

          Have been running them on the nopics MCS and been pretty happy, especially when you can get them at 4 for 3 pricing

              Hankook RS4 have just started to go on sale in the US, so I reckon RS3 will be discounted at some point, if they're not already - I grabbed a set of 235/40/18 for $760 which seems cheap. Judging by tyre rack's website the RS4 will be more spendy.

              So far I'm totally happy, but if I had a dedicated set of tyres for track days and hill runs, I would have been tempted to stick with RE003. Mostly because RE003s wet grip is phenomenal, and the price turns out to be much cheaper than you think once factoring in that the RE003s will last at least 1.5x as long as RS3s ($600/1.5 = $400). If the RS3 are noisier, I've got a loud exhaust anyway, and they don't feel any less comfortable to me... people with cheap coils might be affected more.

              also I haven't found the RS3s to have amazing grip when dead cold . It's hard to really measure without stats vs RE003 but they don't feel faster, but with a bit of heat they're way better. The feel on the front end is much improved though.

                So you're suggesting RE003s can be used on the track?

                  I've aways used RS3s and will be due for a new set in the next few thousand.

                  am looking at trying an AD08r or a Maxxis VR-1 this time around. most likely the VR-1.

                  I guess if they get a price drop I'll keep using the RS's though..

                    No, I was kind of saying the opposite - since I don't want to buy separate R comps for track, I went with the RS3 because they're better suited for street and track combined.

Or so everyone tells me. If I didn't need new tyres regardless (to go with my new wheels) I would have kept the RE003 and wouldn't have been too fussed with track performance tbh.

                        My impression of the RE003 is that they won't be quick on a track situation. The Megane isn't loving them but they're an outstanding tyre for the $149 I paid fitted.

                        Now I quite like the tyres, they certainly grip well enough in the dry and in the wet they aren't as great with heavily wet (standing water) roads but very nice on damp-wet, I think there's not enough water being pumped out of the tread compared to the Dunlops I previously have run on the car (Sport Max TT and Sport Max RT).

                        What they seem to lack is the "feel" the Dunlops had, I suspect there is a significant difference in sidewall stiffness or how the carcass transfers the "bite" of initial turn-in. In short I think the car feels slower, less "alive" and yet seems to be gripping as well and going as quick. In a way it's like the French spirit has been turned down a bit.

                        They are not a quiet tyre, more of a roar and rumble on corsage surfaces than squealing though.

                        If they are consistent over the life of the tread then they'll be an easy "would buy again" however if after 2 years and 9000km they end up like the Dunlops with no traction in wet or dry and 3-5mm chunks tearing out every hard acceleration then I will try something else.

                          OK. Just interested to hear people's experiences. Haven't had a chance to really push the RE003s yet.

                            I can attest to the wet grip of the RE003 after driving home yesterday in heavy rain. Had to go through some standing water too. Not a problem at all. Real impressed. Stopping is fucking awesome. Had a bit of a drive on the weekend in the dry and they had similar grip to the Continental ContactSport2 that came with the car. They're a bit noisier but it's not bothering me.

                              Noisy? I don't find them noisy at all compared to Turanza on city roads. The difference for me isn't there and that's when the engine is off (again, hybrid takes out the engine noise element). I do find the sidewalls stiffer than the 002 albeit 3 years old vs brand new. Standing water is about the same which are both excellent. No risk of aquaplaning definitely on either. Though at the same time, I've not push the tyres hard since I'm still taking it easy whilst I'm taking the shine off the treads whilst only a week old.

                                im scapping a set of near new conisport contact 5s (which came with wheels i bought) for RE300s. The RE003s are the best bang for buck. Conti 5's are noisy pieces of shit.
