    Remote boosters

    I've converted my mk2 cortina to 4 wheel disc
    VE Commodore front/EL Falcon rear, i have a Wilwood dual mc and an adjustable proportioning valve

    now the mk2 never came with boosted brakes and theres no room on or behind the firewall to fit a conventional booster so the only option is VHxx of some sort

    I've had nothing to do with these and have no idea what i need for a 4wd set up, all the units I've seen are either drum or disc/drum

    Shirley it stops close enough to the tyre limits now, does it need a booster?

    Is your new M.C. single or dual circuit?
    If dual then what is the sit?
    Lots of minis & mokes including a G13b powered Sports Sedan, a couple of Swift Gtis, a Goggomobil, Porsche 928S, Polo Gti, BMW 540i, a WRX and a few others.

      Yes MC is dual circuit and tyres are 205-225 15 nankang AR-1

      Im not sure if the system actually needs a booster but im sure it wouldnt hurt to have and I dont want to find out it was a "should of done" thing after I plumb the brakes or get caught out when its time to engineer

      Id prefer to keep things clean and simple and not have a booster but id also like to play it safe

        Spoke to a brake bloke about something similar for the 2002. They have a shitty remote dual booster set up. I am considering doing away with it and may be going to rear discs. Internet 'folklore' say remove the boosters, use a smaller master cylinder and redrill the brake pedal to change the pedal ratio slightly. I may use a VH44 on the front circuit for some additional assistance.

        My thought was try it without then if additional assistance is required plumb in a VH44.

          Ask your engineer now.
          Even if you are happy with a firm pedal, NCOP has a maximum force limit for the application of the brakes.

            Yep
            Then you need master size , caliper piston sizes and pedal ratios to know where to start on the 2 boosters you will need

              Can you use the escort style booster or will it not fit the cortina?
