    Nankang NS2R 120 Treadwear Tyres

    Considering putting 225/45 R15 and 195/55R15 Nankang NS2r's in the 120 treadwear (cos the 225 doesnt come in 180) for a hillclimb/street SW20 MR2 (stock with coilovers).
How many ks will I get going down the highway on them, its a 3 hour drive to the track, will I burn them up going down the highway more than I will at a few laps at Bryant Park?

I am running them on the Elise and they seem to be pretty good for the price. They were one of the few brands that I was able to get a matched set due to weird wheel sizes. Haven't done enough KM in it at the moment to provide comment on how well they are going to wear.

      THanks Mate,
called tyre joint, apparently the importer has never sold a 225/45 so looks like i will need to go to another tyre, considering AO52 but they are even more expensive (225/50 & 205/50)

wouldn't touch Nankang with a barge pole, ran AR1's and they split internally up the middle, 3 tyres and Nankang distributor didn't want to know about it, saw A048's on special buy 3 and get the fourth free, great deal good tyre

Have you got any pics of them with the split? Very interested to see other failures.

looked everywhere and can't find any, think I just took the wheels to the dealer, let him strip them, saw the result and he contacted Nankang to no avail, first felt the issue as a front end wobble on the back straight at Sandown, it was our mechanic that found the external centre line on the tyres after trying to figure out why the wobble, wheel alignment, bearings??? mmm

So you could see the seam open up on the outside, and it was the same on the inside?

Hey Jack, the exterior seam is like has been shown on other pics, a distinct line around the centre of the tyre but on inspection the interior of the tyre was certainly more pronounced, to prove they were no good, changed tyres gave it a run and voila, no front end vibration
