Oh look, there is no logical, sensible way of looking at what I've done or where I'm going.
The Foster brothers offered me their car when I was still building the little green car, at that point I was buying things in chunks of $300 at a...

I'm concluding it's an expensive and potentially heartbreaking Folly !
As I said to the nopics this morning " at least nobody is going hungry because I spent all the money on Cosworth" but it is a little daunting that the view...

I did a thing !
I stripped the dummy engine, and checked whether I could use 8 Massey Ferguson liners to convert the block back to 85 mm bores, and it appears it should work.
If I can do that, then I can purchase a set of +.021"...

I guess that figures, whoever ran it would be well into retirement age by now, but who was it and where are they?...

As of this minute, the hope is to wait till we can procure +.014" tunnel bearings, machine block and new caps to fit and polish crank to suit. Should the oil clearance be excessive by the time the crank is acceptable, junk the crank and buy a better...

Yeah, nah. I doesn't cut the mustard, as one would expect there are all sorts of inclusions, it's not nearly hard enough, and breaks up and flakes off far to easily....

Mahle Bearings have got back to me with a price, 45-50 gbp per bearing, minimum order 100, my math says that is 5000 gbp, so that's a non starter.
A quick Ebay search reveals 2 used but Std/Std cranks, buy now price $995 usd....

Absolutely agreeing with all of this, I don't think I could go back to a cast iron block, but an aluminium V6 of 3-4 litres would be infinitely smarter....

I rewatched the video, and he definitely says 45 in hg absolute and around 7 psi, he's tuning the thing and needs to know these things.
I found a place in England that makes DFV liners, so I got a price from them. Yesterday I dropped 5 Massey...

Wow! I've just stumbled over another piece of the puzzle. Boost pressures, the Americans usually express them in inches of mercury. I'd always taken them as above atmospheric pressure, but no, I'm wrong, some American has posted a video of tuning a Cosworth...

It wouldn't even be that bad if I could just buy the required bearings, bearings to suit a standard crankshaft are available and are only 20 quid each. So that's 200 quid a set, plus exchange rate etc. However both crankshafts I have have been stored...

But did the gearbox survive? Can you change that and the hydraulic pump back into the other one? We need it going yesterday!

Hmmm, so we all know about depreciation and how it reflects on cars, so the bogan down the road ends up with a BMW M6 because it only cost $XXXX second hand, but you know you don't want to buy it after he has had it because it will not have had the expensive...

Having discovered that John Barnard had designed the Penske inlet manifold. I've started rereading some other relevant material, hoping to pick up bits of info, and it's working. The thick bearings were made that way in order to be able to increase the...
