Yea it's not a bad idea.
We do refreshers on all our training every 12 months or 3 years depending on the unit, this is in elec but it's similar for gas, water, other high risk industries.

I did a defensive driving course maybe 5 years after getting my full licence. The 3x take aways I got out of it were:
- Vary your view point i.e. don't look at the car ahead of you, look beyond it and look through corners so you can see...

Money would be better spent on better driver training surely. Less shit drivers > shit cars, especially as described above their not going to be buying a new car with what govco pays for the clunker.
